Therapeutic Massage/Bodywork
Stephen aspires to meet each client where there are on that day. We can address specific issues or nurture your whole being. His office is a quiet sanctuary where all attention can be on you.
Stephen has worked with a broad range of issues and pathologies over many years, alongside osteopaths and chiropractors, in coordination with a wide range of practitioners. He has worked with current and long-standing injuries, chronic pain and restriction, headaches, pre- and post-surgical support, etc. His approach is heavily influenced by the habitual patterning of each body and he looks to unravel deeper imbalances that relate to dysfunction. Clients will experience a fusion of manual techniques, such as deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point release, Muscle Energy Technique, Trager Technique, Intraoral TMJ work, and breath work, all guided by Stephen’s deep intuition. Therapeutic work can be the focus or blended into connecting with the whole body. Full Body Massage is powerfully therapeutic, as well, uniquely down-regulating the nervous system, providing deep release of tension, powerful stress relief and the essential benefits of skilled touch.
Stephen also relishes conversation with other practitioners and will often ask clients to sign a release so that he can connect with other people you are working with. He has long-standing relationships with physical therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, acupuncturists, dentists, Pilates instructors and more, and sees that conversation as valuable to optimizing your care.
To further support healing, Stephen offers hydrotherapy (Hydrocollator heat packs, a heating pad on the table, ice massage) and therapeutic lotions.
Always, your safety and comfort is priority, and your input about all aspects of our work is deeply valued. Stephen will ask you to fill out a health intake form (see Resources) prior to our first session, and will always ask for feedback during and after the session. He frequently will follow up after sessions to see how you respond and to give suggestions as to how to optimize our results.
